100 % Leaf fibers Abaca is also known as manila hemp. Leaf fibers have a high tensile strength and are very resistant to saline and sunlight. Abaca is extremely suitable for dyeing, with a high affinity for dyestuffs. This environmentally-friendly material is not toxic when burnt and is biodegradable. Like the cellulose fibres from which paper is usually made, abaca has long fibres. This makes it possible to produce a strong paper yarn that makes a nice rustling sound when handled.
